Sagalassos

Sagalassos, Antalya'ya 110 km uzaklıkta, Burdur'un Ağlasun ilçesinin 7 km kuzeyinde yer alan antik kenttir. Batı Toroslar'ın bir parçası olan Ağlasun Dağı'nın güney eteklerinde, 1450 - 1700 m yükseklikteki meyilli bir arazi üzerine kurulu kentin kalıntıları doğu - batı yönünde 2.5 km, kuzey - güney yönünde de 1.5 km'yi kapsayan bir alana yayılır. İlk olarak 1706'da Fransız gezgin Paul Lucas tarafından keşfedilen Sagalassos'ta arkeolojik kazılar 1990'da başlatıldı.

Çeşmelerinin görkemiyle anılan Sagalassos, dünyanın en yüksek rakımlı, 9.000 kişilik tiyatrosu ve kendine has kaya mezarlarıyla bilinir. Sagalassos'ta bulunan ve Traian dönemine tarihlenen Ares, Herakles, Hermes, Zeus, Athena ve Poseidon büstleri, antik dönem heykeltıraşlığının önemli örneklerinden sayılıyor. Ayrıca içinde pek çok havuz bulunan Roma Hamamı da iki katı korunmuş şekilde günümüze (2005) ulaşmıştır.
